The pair of dice you apply to apply to enemies while this During effect is active, must be hits but they do not have to be the same type of hit. A basic hit and a crit would still be considered a matching colored pair of hits for the purposes of this card.
Remember that you cannot apply misses to enemies, so a hit and a miss could not be applied as a pair.
